Lush Luv

I'm just a girl who loves lush, A LOT. Just giving reviews, posting about campaigns, news, whatever. Any questions, want me to review a product, want to tell me what you think about a product just pop it in the Ask box.

And also as promised my 2nd visit this week on Monday to the Lincoln Rd. store in Miami. All of the sales associates in the store were friendly and engaging and everything you (or I do anyway) hope for when you go to a Lush store. They chatted with me while I was shopping but also left me alone to think and then when I was checking out they talked with me about the new Charity Pot , Lush Kitchen, etc. I wish that I hadn’t just bought a bunch of stuff just days before b/c I would have liked to have spent more there but all I needed was Easter stuff. I grabbed an Immaculate Eggception, Brightside bubble bar, their very last Golden Eggs (2) and I picked up a Yuzu and Cocoa bubbleroon for a special bath cocktail I will post about later.

oldsoulbeauty asked: It sounds to me that the reason you were cut .25 pounds (or a quarter of a pound) but charged more than that is because the sales ambassador also charged you for the weight of the container. I'm actually not sure if we have a corporate policy on that, I do know that we have the option, but people don't necessarily know how to zero out the scale, and the policy could vary store to store. You could also not be taking tax into account. Just some thoughts. Sorry.

Hi! First to address the tax issue, I am thinking you are not from the US. I know that in other countries tax is included in the posted price but in the US (b/c every state has different sales tax among other reasons, I’m sure) the price posted on something is without tax, tax is actually charged at the register separately and you don’t really see it until you get the receipt (crazy, I know!). And as for the price including the container I do know that can happen but it isn’t suppose to and it would actually make the weight not just the price go up. But thanks for trying :)

PSA!

Ok so I was not aware of the kind of response that I would get from my last post. I just want to clarify a few things that I may have left unclear and some things I learned:

1. I was never actually able to say how much I wanted before the SA went immediately on the defensive to tell me how much she could cut, this is the biggest problem.

2. Many people have let me know that it is now policy to not cut any less then a 1/4lb for facial cleansers, I totally understand this is a Lush policy and not this store or individual’s choice, that was not the big problem here.

3. I thought that the person had given me more then a 1/4 lb. because of the price, someone actually pointed out that it was a .25 piece. I mistakenly assumed it was more b/c of the price, she even actually said she could not cut smaller then $13.95 (the price of a 1/4 lb) but my piece was priced incorrectly which may have caused some of both of our confusion about this. BUT then there is whole other issue if I was charged too much, not necessarily for me-it isn’t that big of a difference-but if people have been and are continuing to be charged incorrectly b/c of the scale.

4. I have been completely surprised by some of the, obviously employee, nasty, anonymous messages I have received from this. I didn’t post them all, some I just ignored b/c they weren’t helpful in any way and some I did my best to answer and share b/c of the confusion. But I found it very unLush to have employees giving me misinformation-someone told me that it was a LAW to not cut soap smaller then a certain amount, and to say nasty things to me like “If you like the store, abide by our policies or leave.” I am very disappointed.

OK now I hope to lay this to rest and get back to my regularly scheduled program. I hope everyone following me here and else where can tell that I have a great love for Lush and I think it’s time to get back to the positive!

akirameow asked: In the states do they cut AOBS for each customer? In Australia it is pre-cut and sold in the black tubs!

No, they are still cutting here but I think it will be moved to black pots, that is what I have heard, eventually.

Anonymous asked: We're not supposed to cut anything less than 1/4 of a pound, and that goes for everything. In fact, we can get in trouble for doing so. So believe you me, not a single one of us is going to risk our job because you want less than 1/4 of a pound. If you like the store, abide by our policies or leave.

Hi I am not sure why this got so negative but I have written a few responses this already and will just repost and add to what I previously wrote to address your message. What I posted before:

"I’m sorry I want to clarify b/c it may have come out wrong:

1. I didn’t actually get to ask how for any specific amount, she stopped me before I could say that.

2. I wasn’t going to ask for a sliver or a sample size or anything I still wanted a substantial amount, an amount I have seen packaged in stores and bought from other stores before, something like $10 worth. I understand that this may not be relevant with the information you gave me.

3. I asked for the smallest of the size that she said she could give me, a 1/4 lb, and she refused to cut another piece and just kept handing me the one that I purchased.

I am sorry if my post or this reply sounds harsh but this is a pet peeve of mine and could have easily been avoided. If she had cut me another one close to the 1/4 lb. amount I probably wouldn’t have said anything.”

And a few new points:

4. The same person cut my mom several pieces of soap right before this that were less then a quarter pound.

5. “So believe you me, not a single one of us is going to risk our job because you want less than 1/4 of a pound.”-wow! I didn’t complain to her manager or superior or anything like that, I just wrote that this is a pet peeve of mine.

6. “If you like the store, abide by our policies or leave.”-wow, again! I think it is pretty clear from my previous posts that I LUV Lush and usually write luving, glowing reviews and posts about Lush but have always maintained that I am sharing my opinion. I didn’t think that what I was writing warranted this kind of response I stated that the overall experience at the store was not a bad one. But I still want to be honest.

Anonymous asked: Hey, just wanted to tell you that when LUSH got the new cleanser potting system, they told us that we could only sale 1/4lb or higher. Sorry for the fact the person cut you off! I'm sure they're new and still getting used to it. The fact that no one talked to you at first is shocking, though! I hope you have better visits soon <3. Have a beautiful day :).

Hi thanks! Yeah I replied to another person and said that if she had just cut me what she said was the smallest amount, 1/4 lb, I probably would have said nothing but she wouldn’t even do that. And there was most of a log of AOBS sitting in front of her so that wasn’t the issue either. I was mostly upset with the way it happened. And thank you, I actually did have a great experience a few days later and will write about that tomorrow.

Anonymous asked: She refused to cut you another piece??thats so bad I'm so sorry you had a negative experience :(

Thanks for the message! I did actually have a better experience at another store just 2 days later. I’ll be posting about it tomorrow. :)

Anonymous asked: Hi! I saw your recent review of that one store and I wanted to let you know that trading standard LAWS say that lush can't sell soap under a certain weight so please please don't give the staff a rough time for abiding by a law, it feels horrible!!

I’m sorry I want to clarify b/c it may have come out wrong:

As promised I have the first of my 2 most recent visits to Lush. The first was on this Saturday in Jacksonville at the St John’s Town Center location. Some of you may remember that when they had the Grand Opening party my parents went and the experience was not so great, they actually always go to the other location in Jax b/c of this. We were there for another reason and I needed some restocking of essentials done so we stopped in. I would have to say overall the experience was better but not great. When we went in there were 3 or 4 employees and only one other person shopping and no one talked to us. But once we asked for a few things someone started helping us and they were very nice and friendly. Another person helped my mom get some soap cut and everything went well until I asked for some Angels on Bare Skin. They had none out so I asked for some cut, when I started to ask for a specific amount she cut me off and said that they had to do them at the 1/4 lb amount or higher and it got a little awkward. (This is a pet peeve of mine, I am not going in and buying only that or asking for samples, I just want a small amount b/c I know how much I use.) And so I asked for the smallest amount I could get and she handed me a piece she had already cut that was bigger then that and just kept on insisting that I take that amount. I didn’t want to be rude so I just took it but I know half of it will go bad, I will just give some to someone else….But other then this little incident I found them to be overall friendly and nice. The experience was ok, not great. My sister mom and I picked up quite a bit (pic in the lower left) and I got some staples Karma shampoo (my husband washes his hair with this every morning), the AOBS from above, some sea spray and Fair Trade Honey shampoo for replenishment, Mask of Magnaminty b/c this pregnancy is causing havoc on my body and I am breaking out all over, and Therapy b/c my belly has devoured the previous bar.
